How Wind Energy Can Help Reduce Energy Consumption

So long as it is well understood how to construct and implement wind farms, this technology can greatly help boost manufacturing productions. Once the initial capital costs are already spent, the cost of generating electricity from wind energy is almost already negligible.

As part of a study on alternative energy solutions and sources, the Department of Energy has proposed to use wind power in generating up to 20% of our total needs. There are more than enough locations to install wind farms within the USA, requiring an approximate investment of $150 Billion a year.

Advocates of the plan suggest that if there is to be a legislation which will mandate local utilities to purchase generated power at regulated rates, it would essentially guarantee demand. As part of the carbon emissions reduction program of any enterprise, there is always enough reason to make this project a priority.

So long as it is well understood how to construct and implement wind farms, this technology can greatly help boost manufacturing productions. Once the initial capital costs are already spent, the cost of generating electricity from wind energy is almost already negligible. It is therefore practical to implement wind farms as long as the demand is guaranteed through mandatory purchases to protect investment costs.

If wind power becomes a big portion of the total markup of energy supply, the price of commodities in the market will be stabilized by the static economic footprint. Those who are against wind energy use plan contend that this source is intermittent and it would be used as wholesale to compensate for such flaw. To make this work, regional distribution grids need to be interconnected in a way that will help level productivity. The possibility, however, of manipulating distribution of generated electricity in a massive national grid is still a subject of study.

Other methods can be used to manage capacity requirements when demand is at peak through appropriate contracting and true implementation of smart grid that could help level off peak periods. It is not possible to account for a downturn in wind generated electricity because of weather conditions, it will be possible to reintroduce semi-mothballed carbon producing facilities of old, depending on the facilities’ patterns of economic use.

As the use of fossil fuels continues to rise, carbon emissions reduction becomes a priority concern and enterprise continues to find ways to use alternative energy. Whether or not it is feasible to implement wind energy in wholesale, it is still a significant contributor and would be very feasible as an alternative source of energy.

www.greenpowerscience.com This is a small 24v DC geared motor I attached to one of our Small Stirling Engines using plumbing fixtures for a mount. This is a NO LOAD TEST. The maximum voltage was 22v DC and the estimate was 300 mA. So this can produce about 6.5 watts with this simple setup. I am working on a more efficient process. Due to the weather, NO LOADS were tested today but I have tested some LEDs and small DC motors with good results. I will expand this test when we get better sunny days. Summers in the Sunshine State are 150 days of clouds:-)

Oil prices steady on mixed supply concerns, dollar trading

Crude futures swung near 145 U.S. dollars a barrel Monday on mixed news of global supply concerns and dollar tradings.

Light, sweet crude for August delivery edged up 10 cents to settle at 145.18 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Price moved between 142.49 dollars and 146.37 dollars during the trading session.

U.S. President Bush lifted an executive ban on offshore oil drilling on Monday and urged the U.S. Congress to act as well in a bid to cool the high energy prices. However, analysts do not believe that such a move will ease the tight global crude supplies in the short term, because it would take months or years to get actual output from new fields even if the bans were removed.

The dollar gained marginally against the euro and yen on Monday after the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department announced unprecedented steps to support the plummeting mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. But the dollar fell against the sterling pound and the Swiss franc. The dollar’s mixed trading contributed to the fluctuating of the crude futures.

Meanwhile, supply concerns continued to weigh on the market as Iranian officials said on Sunday that the country would fight back against any attacks and “cut off the hands” of invaders, and the oil workers in Brazil began a five-day strike on Monday. Worries of disruptions of oil production and exportation in Iran, Nigeria and Brazil sent the crude futures to an all-time peak of 147.27 dollars a barrel on Friday.

In London, Brent crude for August delivery fell 57 cents to settle at 143.92 dollars a barrel on the ICE Futures Exchange.

The various types of scooters, hitherto, available in the market are widely accepted mode of transportation that offers smooth and effortless riding to both kids and adults. The scooters are one of the biggest means of transportation that usually move with super acceleration coupled with the capacities of reaching speeds of 20-25 mph and traveling distances up to 25 miles on a single charge. Being one of the fastest means of transportation, thus, traveling in different types of scooters can provide a lifetime experience to all specially the regular passengers, to say the least.

How do electric scooters work?

The electric scooters work with the aid of motors and batteries that make them easy for traveling. While a variety of switches control speed [on/off or variable], the bicycle hand brakes are installed on the handlebars to keep the electric scooters under control. The batteries are generally placed beneath the feet thereby easing travel further. The speed of these scooters often vary dramatically ranging from below 10 mph for inexpensive import scooters to over 30 mph for the highest-speed scooters.

Some of the electric scooters also have a motor-protected circuitry that enables the scooter to move ahead and gain speed even before the assist starts working. So when the throttle-switch is released, the unique design of the electric scooters allow the motor to coast or “freewheel” in a way most commonly seen in regular bikes. The electric scooters can be truly enjoyable as they have an easy acceleration that helps them to glide smoothly through heavy winds as well as climb hills smoothly.

Types of electric scooters

From amongst a dozen of electric scooters available in the market, the three most representative examples include:

Zappy – this scooter can carry a rider 4-5 miles at just 10-12 mph speed limit.

Flyer – the Phat Flyer provides 5-8 mile range and 15 mph speed limit at the expense of portability.

Voloci – this looks and gives the feel of a moped. It includes special features like selectable performance models, quick-swap battery packs, keyed ignition for added security and state-of-charge indicators.

Advantages of electric scooters

Majority of the population usually remains fond of traveling on electric scooters because they somehow impart the feel of skiing smoothly on land. Whether it’s a terrain, a rough road with frequent potholes or a smooth road, the electric scooters have the capacity to glide effortlessly through the road. Instead of using them for long distance errands, they are specially useful if you are interested to opt for some quick and easy work. Traveling on the electric scooters can save your money and most efficiently protect the environment. Another significant factor that makes people choose electric scooters is convenience of parking them. You can park them easily at convenient parking spots and short cut by-lanes with minimum of inconveniences.

Travel on these electric scooters to enjoy a smooth, quick and easy ride anytime and anywhere.

Why Everyone should use Solar Energy Panels

Electric bills are going up and the money you are making is going down because you have a lot more money to pay out when you get your check and there are no signs of things changing in today’s economy.

There are other ways you can cut the power bill for your house so you have extra money to spend on other bills. Solar panels can make enough power for you to power your house so you can cut the electric bill in half or even cut out the electric bill out all together. There are many things you can do to get your electric bill out of the picture with the use of solar panels.

The first thing you need to do is to determine where you are going to set up your panel. You need to put your panel in a place where the sun is going to hit the panel all day long. If you get partial sun from time to time then you have put your panel on a swivel so it is easier to rotate so you can get the panel in direct sun as the day passes by. The solar panel has to be in direct sunlight in order for the panel to produce the maximum amount of power for your house.

Once you have the spot you are going to put your panel, then you have to build your solar panel. You can get a kit with everything you need to build it yourself online for about $200 at the least. There are other plans you can buy online or you can find some plans online for free and then you have to find the materials yourself. You can find all of the materials you need in your local junkyards or things that are lying around your house.

Now that you have built your solar panel and you picked out the spot you want to place it, now you can connect the power plant to your house. This is where your electric bill will be cut or at least reduced because if your local electric company has a program that pays you from producing power, you can actually get paid for making your own electricity.

If you can make enough power for your home and you have power that is just going to waste, look into your power company because if they have this program in place, your power bill might come in form of a check each month instead of a bill.
